[ Documents & Research ] → The Extra Color Pages from Signal
The extra color plates from Signal were a special, premium feature. Issues that included them were shipped to neutral countries such as Sweden and Switzerland and can be seen as a sign of preferential propagandistic treatment of these nations in comparison to that of German-allied or occupied countries.
The extra plates can be found in the following editions: German (D), French (F), Spanish (Sp), and Swedish (Sch), with both the German and French versions sold in Switzerland. They are typically located between pages 10/11 and 30/31. They are unnumbered and not part of the magazine's pagination. This is why they have been designated A to D in this list.
The extra plates are identical in all editions with the only known exception being plate D of issue 9/44 in the Spanish edition. See the curiosities section on Carlos Diez's website, third item from the top.
It should be noted that any issues prior to 7/44 which already had color covers (such as the Portuguese and Spanish editions) could be described as containing "extra" plates as well: unlike later issues, their color covers were not part of the pagination either. As a result their contents are listed on page 1, while in other versions this would be page 3. For this reason these issues (4/44 - 6/44) may be included in this list in a little while.
